Subject: 21522/agmt/800 MHz Radio Tower Date: Thu, 30 May 1996 12:56:28 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 21522 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AND EXECUTE THE ATTACHED RADIO COMMUNICATIONS AGREEMENT WITH THE 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS DISTRICT OF HAMILTON COUNTY, TENNESSEE FOR THE ACCEPTANCE OF A THREE MILLION DOLLAR ($3,000,000.00) PARTIAL REPAYMENT TOWARD THE FINANCING OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN 800 MEGAHERTZ (MHz) RADIO TOWER COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM. _________________________ WHEREAS, there exists within the Chattanooga area a need for a more advanced radio communications network to be used by the emergency response teams that serve the general public; and WHEREAS, the 911 Emergency Communications District of Hamilton County, Tennessee, has offered to pay to the City of Chattanooga, Tennessee the total sum of Three Million Dollars ($3,000,000.00), with an initial payment of Four Hundred Thousand Dollars ($400,000.00) in 1997 and continuing in 1998 at an annual rate of Two Hundred Thousand Dollars ($200,000.00), as a partial repayment for the City's estimated expense of constructing an 800 megahertz (MHz) radio system for the City; and WHEREAS, the Mayor has recommended, and this City Council has agreed with his recommendation, that the City commit to do this project, and has proceeded with the identification of proper sites and the construction of said transceiver facilities; and that the City accept the offer of the 911 Emergency Communications District (as evidenced by the attached Radio Communications Agreement); 0C NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, that the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into and execute the Radio Communications Agreement with the 911 Emergency Communications District in the form and substance as attached hereto for the acceptance of a Three Million Dollar ($3,000,000.00) partial repayment of the cost of an 800 megahertz (MHz) radio communications system to be used by the emergency response teams within the City of Chattanooga.
